Harakeke is a handsome and dramatic plant with sword-like leaves. Please don’t plant it in your garden unless you have a wetland there, because it grows very large and up to 3m in height. Harakeke makes great shelter for stock, especially in combination with cabbage trees. In Hawke’s Bay it is only naturally found in wetlands.
