In the Marlborough Sounds farmers used to spend a lot of time trying to get rid of this plant. But it is having a resurgence thanks to its silver foliage, sturdy nature and fantastic adaptability to the toughest and driest sites. In Hawke’s Bay plant it where nothing else will grow. It will be constrained by the site conditions, and it can be pruned. It is common in coastal Hawke’s Bay including on Mahia Peninsula. Great shelter for stock along fences too.
