Our kākābeak are offspring of named plants found in the wild in Hawke’s Bay. Less than 110 wild kākābeak remain on New Zealand’s East Coast. Bright red or pink flowers in spring; likes partial shade; protect from slugs and snails. Join Urban Kākābeak Project on Facebook, and please return labelled seed to restore wild populations. Pan Pac Environmental Trust, Biodiversity HB, Ngāti Pāhauwera, Forest Lifeforce Restoration Trust and Plant Hawke’s Bay support this project.
